speaking to God through writing
i'm going to be completely honest here, i don't like mental/verbally speaking to God. you may be thinking "oh! she's crazy!" but let me finish, i don't like mental/verbally speaking to God because i prefer writing in a journal. i write to Him instead of speaking to Him. writing is what i do best and i feel like i use it in every aspect of my life. i like having a journal of all my conversations to God. sometimes i look back and realize most of those problems were solved in less than a few years. it's incredible how fast God works at times. i totally recommend getting a journal and writing letters to God. not everyone likes to write, i get it, but sometimes it's good to change up your prayer life. you never know what could happen! i don't write to Him as often as i would like, but it is important to set a time specifically for Him. whether it's a holy hour or you alone in your closet.
another thing that is helpful is writing your prayer intentions on index cards and keeping them in an envelope. i recently looked at them and was able to cross off a lot of them. those problems/prayers were solved in 3ish years (i started writing my intentions when we moved to Georgia). i listed everything i could think off, my friends who play sports, my family, my animals, my home, everyone who lives in our community. everything. honestly i love looking at those index cards and praying for the people on them. it makes me feel like i'm saving them from sin or maybe something touched their lives that day because of a small prayer.
many people speak to God differently, some verbally praise Him, others write to Him (like me!) still others sit in silence and wait for Him to speak. i like it when i start the conversation first, because if i don't God will and He always starts the conversation. it is great when we WANT to talk to Him. and maybe we talk to Him only to ask for things. we need to talk to Him not only because we want things, but because He is our Father. don't you speak to your dad all the time? then you should do the same with your Heavenly Father.
don't forget to strike up the conversation with God first. He's always been there....waiting and listening.

PRAYER IS THE MOST IMPORTANT CONVERSATION OF YOUR DAY. TAKE IT TO GOD BEFORE YOU TAKE IT TO ANYONE ELSE.
