talk to Him
hey fam! what's up?! in this blog post i'm going to be talking about some cool stuff from a one-day retreat i went on with my mom and Ana. it was so amazing! i met Emily Wilson, she was so sweet! honestly the whole time i was fan girling! it was kinda embarrassing. when i met her, she seemed like a disney princess, like Elsa or something. and her baby was adorable! anyway, she gave 2 talks and i'm going to sum up all of them.
so the first talk was based on The Healing of Blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52). she spoke about healing. here are a few good questions to ask yourself:
• what are some places in your life that need healing?
• what places in your life do you feel blind?
• have you realized your broken and need healing?
• what do you need from God to fully heal?
we all have parts of us the need healing and we need to realize that God is the only one who can fix that. sometimes we don't want to admit we need help and God knows that, but He still wants us to ask Him for help. we need to vocalize our needs to Him. call out to Him "Abba, Father! heal me Lord, i need You!" we have to be BOLD in our asking and listen when He answers.
the second talk was based on shame. how shame shapes the women of the world. women try to hide their imperfections and become shameful with the body God gave them.
here are some questions for you to consider:
• why do i sin and choose the wrong thing?
• why do i hide from God?
why do we hide from God? because we are full of shame. why? because we sin again and again. in Genesis 3:8-10, God comes to see Adam and Eve after the fall. here it is:
8 The man and his wife heard the sound of Yahweh God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from Yahweh God among the trees of the garden. 9 But Yahweh God called to the man. 'Where are you?' he asked. 10 'I heard the sound of you in the garden,' he replied. 'I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.'
SIN STEALS OUR FREEDOM... IT GIVES US SHAME.
they were shameful because they were naked. nowadays women are afraid of walking out without a full face of make up because they don't want to be seen natural. people might not like them for who they are. this also ties in with insecurities.
• are you insecure?
• what are you insecure about?
• are you truly free?
• how can you become truly free?
we need to start practicing talking to God on a daily basis and stop hiding from Him. He knows everything, but He wants to here it from you. we have to rest at the foot of the cross and lay it all down at His feet. give everything to Him, He's always waiting for you.
here are some questions that may hold you back from talking to God:
• do i hold on to sins from the past?
• do i hold sins that are in the dark?
• will i bring them to the light?
• will i allow myself with the help of God to heal?
• will i surrender to God's love?
sometimes asking yourself these questions help you sort out your relationship with God. i hope this recap helped you and your relationship with God!
until next time!
